Excess weight is probably the most common problem today, and people throughout the world are continually looking for successful and safe weight loss techniques. One of the methods using surgery to relieve the body of excess fat is liposuction.

This technique utilizes a suction instrument known as cannula that is pushed into the body through a small cut that pulls out the extra fat. When compared against the different conventional means of weight loss, Liposuction has certain benefits as discussed below.

Liposuction enables you to lose several pounds within hours. Almost all other weight reduction techniques like dieting or following a rigorous workout regime require a lot of hard work for months, and it is tough to maintain your inspiration for such a long period. On the other hand, lipo guarantees immediate loss of weight after surgery and keeps you on track to maintaining your shape by simply following a healthy and active way of living.

There are a number of side effects of practices such as rigorous dieting, which can pose many health complications. However, liposuction as a technique is not only safer but is also free from serious side effects on your health. Even if there are minor surgical scars on the body, they are not long lasting and they disappear in a short time.

Liposuction is very effective in dealing with some parts of the body like the chin and thighs from which extracting fat is difficult through other techniques. Liposuction is helpful in successful fat removal from all parts of the human body.

Although there are many attractive benefits of lipo, you must always keep in mind that it is after all surgery. It is advisable that before you decide on whether to go for the procedure, you take advice from a competent physician and ensure that the process won’t lead to any side effects on your body. Moreover, keep in mind that the procedure might require you to take a short break from work and rest for some time before returning to normal routine.

Breast enhancement surgery in San Francisco is performed more often than any other cosmetic surgery. The surgeon and patient must decide where the incision will be made to insert the implants. This article looks at the benefits and drawbacks of each location.

The most significant issue related to location choice concerns the scar that will remain after surgery. It is understood that there will be some scar formation following any surgical procedure. Any incision though the skin results in some scarring. The visibility of the scar is related to the location, surgical skill, possible problems with healing, and personal differences in scar formation.

Breast enhancement surgery requires one of four sites for the insertion of the implant. They are the navel, the axilla, the border of the areola, and in the crease below the breast. The sites each have advantages and disadvantages. It will benefit the patient to familiarize herself with this before talking with her surgeon.

The normal incision for breast implant insertion is around one to one and a half inches. The technique using the navel incision requires a shorter incision. The length of incision is also determined by the type, style, and size of the breast implant to be used. Silicone breast implants need a larger incision that saline implants. Also, implants with outer texture usually require a bigger incision.

An areolar incision is a commonly used approach for implant insertion. The incision is placed around the bottom border of the areola. This location is almost always used if a mastopexy (breast lift) is being done as well because the mastopexy also requires an incision at this location. The final scar from an areolar incision is usually not noticeable. The exception to this would be if there is an infection or other problem with healing in which case the scar may be more prominent. The areolar incision does have a little greater incidence of altered nipple sensation following surgery.

The infra-mammary or crease incision is perhaps the most frequently used incision for breast augmentation. This approach like the areolar, allows for easy and accurate placement of the implant. The scar from this incision is not visible when in an upright position. The incision is usually placed just above the inframammary fold. One advantage to this incision is that the same location can be reused if a revision is required in the future.

The third incision location is in the arm pit or trans-axillary incision. An incision is made in the axilla then a tunnel is formed with an endoscope (a tubular fiber optic device) to allow placement of the implant in the breast area. The implant is then manipulated into place through the tunnel. A major plus with this procedure is the absence of any scar on the breasts. Unfortunately if any future revision is needed, it will require a new incision elsewhere.

An incision made at the navel for breast implant insertion is called a T.U.B.A. (Trans Umbilical Breast Augmentation). This technique is performed by making a shore cut at the edge of the navel. A tunnel is then formed to the breasts using an endoscope. The tunnel lies just below the skin in the subcutaneous fat. A rolled up saline implant is inserted and worked up the tunnel to the breasts. Once positioned, it is unrolled and filled with saline. The T.U.B.A. procedure leaves no scar on the breasts but rarely there will be residual “tracks” left from tunneling under the skin. Silicone implants cannot be used with this procedure.

Ultimately the final choice for insertion site will be made with your plastic surgeon based on the volume and type of implant and other personal factors. It is best to consult a Board Certified plastic surgeon for breast augmentation or other cosmetic surgeries.

Taking a breast enhancement operation exposes you to dangers such as breast-feeding difficulties or implant leakage. Thus, it is necessary to understand these common dangers and side-effects to better prepare you on what to do.

Quite a number of patients who have tried breast enhancement successfully breast feed. However, there is still a possibility that it will affect the breast feeding process. Before moving through the surgery, consult your surgeon about this. Sometimes, breast enhancement leads to a loss of sensation in the nipple and breast area. This loss of sensation, which results from broken nerve endings, may be temporary or permanent. The outcome would depend upon the breast enhancement technique used by your surgeon.

Another possible danger of getting breast enhancement procedures are the leaking of the breast implant materials into the surrounding breast tissue. To decrease the probability of leaking, make sure that the implant material that will be applied is accredited by the FDA. Implants may also break or tear over time. Normally, ruptures occur when there is extreme compression or injury to the breast. It may also be because of the natural aging of the implant. Sometimes, it is mammography itself that compresses the breast implant, thereby inducing it to tear.

The worst risk in breast enhancement lies in its inference of breast cancer detection. Breast enhancement implants may cover breast tumors during mammography or ultrasound. For patients with breast enhancement, additional views and special imaging are necessary during breast examination. The “Eklund displacement views” helps maximize the visibility of the breast tissue to further detect tumors.

Before trying a breast enhancement surgery, it is recommended to talk about the possible side effects with your preferred licensed surgeon who has enough experience in breast enhancement. Ensure that the surgeon will inform you of everything you need to know about the procedure and its consequences.
